About Mrs. Carter

I went to high school in Chicago and then moved to Los Angeles to go to the University of Southern California.  I earned my B.A. in Political Science and Public Policy and worked for several years in political advertising.  While in Los Angeles, I also volunteered at a day camp on the weekends. This is where I discovered my passion for working with kids!  I took a big chance and moved to San Diego to get my teaching credential.  I had the opportunity to begin my teaching career as a math and science teacher at Gompers Preparatory Academy. After three years, I began looking for a different way to teach and a different way for students to learn. I was lucky to find High Tech and for seven amazing years explore the world of project-based learning!  This year I  have embarked on learning about IB and am focusing on teaching 8th grade mathematics at Albert Einstein Academy!

I earned my Master of Education with an emphasis in Technology so I am always looking for ways to incorporate technology into the projects I design.  I also have a energetic five year old daughter named Lucy and an 18 month old son named Andrew...so in my free time I love to hang out with them, my husband, and dog Bailey. I also love to watch college football (Fight On Trojans!), travel, go camping, and read. Phew!
