Essential Question

How can we, as 6th graders, take action to ensure that our world, and all of the species in it, will still be thriving 100 years from now?

Project Overview

Inspired by the HBO and The American Museum of Natural History documentary, “Saving My Tomorrow”, a six part family series on the environment, Carter/Baughman students write and produce their own short environmental documentary films using the WeVideo platform.  They will have the opportunity to explore a variety of current environmental topics that affect our planet including drought, urban sprawl and overpopulation, air pollution, endangered species and habitat loss, modern farming practices, amongst others. After conducting research, students will produce their films and premiere them at our very own environmental fair on March 7th at the new High Tech High Forum.  Student films will also be submitted to the iVIE Awards through the San Diego County Office of Education. As a part of this project, student groups will contribute to the social media campaign #startwith1thing through Discovery Education, in which they will be encouraging people to make small changes in their lives in order to make big changes for our planet.
